Promoting smart and safe construction with robotics

Hip Hing has been striving to promote smart and safe construction. The adoption of robotics is driven by a desire to enhance occupational safety & health, standardise production processes, achieve consistency in the quality of workmanship, and improve operational efficiency.

CASE STUDY

Promoting safety by adopting robotics arm in lift shaft

Construction activities in the lift shaft, such as grinding of step joints, chiseling the bulging surface and filling up tie bolt holes of the lift shaft walls as well as the subsequent installation of lift car brackets, involve the risks of work at height and falling objects if carried out manually.

To minimise the safety hazards, robotic lift car bracket installation technology has been initiated by Hip Hing and jointly developed with its strategic partners. The laser scanning of the works area, navigation and positioning of drilling, holes clearance, handling and fixing of brackets are fully automated to eliminate the safety risks for workers. This robotic development has received support from the Construction Industry Council R&D Fund.
