Successful mega truss lifting of Kai Tak Sports Park
Our Kai Tak Sports Park (KTSP) project recently achieved a major milestone, when the Main Stadium retractable roof mega trusses were successfully lifted into position.
This involved the simultaneous lifting of the four prefabricated mega-trusses, which have a total net weight of over 6000 tons. The simultaneous lifting of trusses of this scale is unprecedented in Hong Kong. Multi-disciplinary teams undertook detailed engineering and risk analysis studies; conducted multiple simulations and virtual rehearsals of all aspects of the operation and the sequencing of the activities; and formulated comprehensive contingency plans. This was made possible by leveraging the power of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Drone and Laser Scanning technology.
