Happy Valley Racecourse Grandstand Refurbishment

Happy Valley Racecourse, Happy Valley, Hong Kong
Previous Project Next Project

Hip Hing was appointed to construct a self-contained module with a size of approximately 6,000 square metre to accomodate betting booths, catering facilities, security posts and plant rooms for building services. These facilities sit on the floating concrete slab and are covered by an independently supported roof on a steel structure extending the enture length of the infield to form an open-side enclosure. More than 20 kilometers of information cable was installed to link the computerised betting facilities and CCTV monitors to existing control centres in the Grandstands. Chilled water for air conditioning and comfort cooling in the infield is supplied from an ice storage system, the first of its kind in Hong Kong. All refurbished areas in the Grandstands were fitted out with new mechanical and electrical installations, including fire services, plumbing and drainage.
