The project consisted of excavating and filing 1.4 million cubic metres of earth, reclaiming and forming 27 acres, constructing a 70 metre wide concrete river lining and a four cell box culvert and substantial roadwork. Problems faced included maintaining the flow of a large stream during the construction of the box culvert, maintaining a continous flow of a the river during the construction of a 70 metre wide river lining and frequent heavy rains. Special care was needed to ensure that the low lying areas (60% of the Tuen Mun area) would not be flooded during construction.
