The scope of this project included the construction of underground MTR station. Water mains were diverted in order to allow excavation at the station area. This project was complicated by the fact that it lies in one of the most densely populated areas in Kowloon and on heavily travelled arterial roads where free flow of traffic had to be maintained at all time. A technique new to Hong Kong at the time of construction was utilised in this project whereby the walls of the station were put up before any excavation actually begin. This is the ICOS technique devised by the ICOS Corporation of America.
