Senior Project Manager of Hip Hing scoops two awards

Michael Wong, Senior Project Manager of Hip Hing, has reaped two industry awards recently, including the Silver Award in the New Works and A&A Works Category of the Chartered Institute of Building (HK) Construction Manager of the Year Awards (CMYA) Hong Kong 2018, and the Construction Industry Outstanding Young Person Award presented by Construction Industry Council.

The CMYA highlighted Michael's remarkable management skills for his Xiqu Centre project. "It's not an easy task to manage this world-class arts venue project," when Michael recalled the construction process. "The project site was located in a busy urban area and the operation had to be conducted within a congested area. In addition, the installation of the Grand Theatre's steel structure, weighing 2,400 tonnes, was one of the challenges that we needed to address strategically. We strictly controlled the construction process and even carried out rehearsals to ensure work safety."

Being the team leader of the project, Michael agreed that project success totally relied on teamwork. Under his leadership, the team endeavored to break boundaries and innovate. He set up a rest zone with full-length glass panels, which created a cozy atmosphere that colleagues could relax amid hectic schedule, it also helped reshape the public's impression of the construction industry.
